General Safety Tips:
Keep your personal details private, you should not be sharing your email address, phone number, home address or other personal information with anyone on Snapchat.
- Do not send inappropriate photos of any kind to anyone on Snapchat. Even though pictures “disappear” after a time period, they are always there on the internet. Malicious people may acquire them or someone may screenshot it to embarrass you.
- If someone from HIA is harassing you on Snapchat or sending you pictures you are uncomfortable with you are to report them immediately to an iC
- Do not tell anyone your Snapchat password - even someone you believe is a close friend.
- Do not give your Snapchat information out on a public platform such as Habbo or Slack. If you want someone in HIA to have your Snapchat - it must be someone you trust - and give it to them privately. Always remember that when giving someone from the internet your social media information - you are putting yourself at risk.
- Never feel pressured to provide your information to someone.
- Even if you choose ‘My Friends’ in the privacy settings, anyone you’re in a Group with will be able to communicate with you. If you’re in a Group Chat with someone you’re uncomfortable with - delete the group chat or do not enter it in the first place.
- If you post a Snap to your Story, and then change your settings so only friends can see your Story, others may still be able to see the Snaps you posted before the change.
