What do I do at Diplomatic?
What stays the same?
As a High Rank+ member, you are expected to promote hard workers and assist all lower ranks with their duties should they ask for it. You are also expected to enforce the HIA Code of Conduct as well as diffuse arguments between HIA members until it is resolved, or until a higher ranked member steps in.
What’s new in Diplomatic?
As a Diplomatic, your promotion limit is increased to Trial MOD. You may also enforce disciplinary actions via warnings, strikes, and fired logs with the approval of someone from Board of Elite and above. Moreover, you are allowed to approve the disciplinary logs of anyone ranked from Professional Staff to MOD. Diplomatic members are also eligible to apply for the Awarding Committee whenever applications are open.
When it comes to diplomacy, you are encouraged to volunteer for tasks to cooperate with External Relations. Please approach the respective heads of those groups for more information. In addition, you are required to complete a mandatory Diplomatic task during your time in this Division.
Cooperating with External Relations?
According to the Duties of HIA, Diplomatic Division members are supposed to "cooperate with External Relations", but how? It seems that the best way to contribute to External Relations’ efforts as a Diplomatic Division member would be to actively visit and check up on our allies. Do not be afraid to engage them in friendly conversation and learn about how their agency or military functions.
If you notice anything that can be done to improve our alliance(s), or if you spot any issues that might hurt our alliance(s) (e.g., HIA member misconduct at an Allied HQ, or vice-versa), as a Diplomatic member it is your responsibility to bring this up to us so that we can maintain our diplomatic ties. You may report directly to Diplomatic Leadership, or speak to any External Relations iC Member.
How do I know who our current Allies are?
Refer to the alliance list or click here.
What is the Diplomatic Task?
The Diplomatic task is a mandatory task that must be completed in order to be able to be promoted out of the Diplomatic Division. For more information about the task and how to complete it, please refer to our Diplomatic Task Guide below.
I have never been to another agency while representing HIA. How should I behave?
For more information on acceptable behavior during Diplomatic missions, please refer to the Diplomatic Etiquette Guidelines below.
I just promoted someone to the Diplomatic division. What do I have to tell them?
The Habbo (BOE+ or their Personal Secretary) who promotes someone to the Diplomatic division MUST inform them of the following things:
- Who the current Leader(s) of Diplomatic is/are
- To read this rank guide!
- Contact the Diplomatic Leader or Assistant Leader for the task.
Diplomatic Task Guide
What is the task?
The Diplomatic Task is a mini-report that Diplomats must complete before they are allowed to be promoted to the next division, Board of Elite (BOE).The Task must be submitted through a google form given to the staff by the Diplomatic Leadership. For the task, Diplomatic members are required to visit an Allied HQ and report and reflect on their experiences. All completed tasks might be forwarded to External Relations (ExR) for their perusal.
Just relax! The task comes with a report template, which comes with several guiding questions to make sure that the task will be a breeze to complete.
Who is required to complete the Diplomatic Task?
This task is MANDATORY for all Diplomatic members. For members who are BOE+ but for whatever reason(s) have not completed the task before (e.g., transferred to BOE, bought BOE+ ranks and bypassed Diplomatic, etc.), the task is OPTIONAL (you are encouraged to do it, but you will not suffer any repercussions for not doing the task).
What do I need before I start on my Diplomatic Task?
You will need the following things before you can do the Diplomatic Task:
Where am I allowed to conduct the task?
For the purposes of the task, Diplomats are only to report on HIA’s official allies. HIA’s list of allies can be found here. Diplomats who submit their mini-reports on any non-allied agencies or militaries will have their task submission deemed invalid. If a Diplomat expresses a strong interest in investigating specific non-allied agencies they are allowed to do so in collaboration with ExR, however, it will NOT be counted towards Diplomatic task completion.
As for where to submit the task, they should be submitted to the Diplomatic Leadership or the google form provided by them.
How much time am I given to complete the task?
The task should not take you longer than an hour to complete, but it is also fine if you wish to take your time and complete it at your own pace. If you have reached the final rank of Diplomatic (i.e., Special Ambassador) and have not completed the task, you will NOT be allowed to be promoted to BOE Elite Deputy until you have submitted the task. Therefore you are encouraged to start on the task upon entering the division as an Ambassador, and submit the completed task before you reach the final rank of Special Ambassador.
Why is this task mandatory?
As its name suggests, the Diplomatic division should be involved in HIA’s diplomacy with other agencies. Hence, this task will require Diplomats to leave the HQ and interact with our Allies in order to report on how we are doing as an ally, and how we can improve our alliances. This task will also be unique to the Diplomatic division, keeping the division relevant to HIA and its operations. This is one of the ways the division can fulfil its duty to HIA: by cooperating with External Relations. Making it compulsory for Diplomats to give feedback about our alliances will definitely be helpful for the ExR unit, making it a win-win situation for both the Diplomatic division and ExR.
In addition, since BOE is the highest non-elective rank that is in-charge of supervising the HQ and serving as role-models for the lower ranks, BOE members are expected to know everything about HIA’s base operations the moment they reach Elite Deputy. This is because they have already had hands-on experience handling all HIA operations, which include:
The only thing missing is hands-on experience interacting with external agencies, which is where the Diplomatic division and the task comes in. Completing the task should give members an opportunity to understand how to deal with our allies before being promoted into BOE.
While the task is mandatory, it was also designed to be as simple and enjoyable as possible; Diplomatic members might include casual members who are not aiming to become electives so there is no need to force them to complete a formal full-length report. At the same time, including a task will give them a hint of what there is to come when they start handling tasks and reports as BOE members, Apprentices, or Electives.
How do we check that Diplomats have completed the task?
A list of the names of all HIA members who have completed the Diplomatic Task can be found here:
List of Diplomatic Task Completers.
Electives members (or their Personal Secretaries) who are promoting a Special Ambassador into the BOE division MUST ensure that the person to-be-promoted has their name in that list (and has been verified).
Rules & Policies
§1 If a member has been mistakenly promoted to the BOE division without completing the task, they will be DEMOTED back to Special Ambassador until they have completed the task properly.
§2 The Leader of Diplomatic and External Relation heads reserve the right to invalidate a member’s task submission if they are deemed to be insufficient. Members MUST re-do or revise their submission to have it accepted.
§3 Trolling the task (e.g., writing one-word reports, using inappropriate language, repeatedly submitting invalid reports, etc.) is a serious offence. If caught, they will face disciplinary action which may lead up to termination depending on the severity.
§4 Plagiarism, which refers to copying someone’s work and claiming it as your original work, is unacceptable. All information that does not originate from yourself must be given its due credit. Members who are caught plagiarising will have their task marked as invalid and may be subject to further disciplinary measures depending on its severity.

Dos and Don’ts when working on the task
SECTION I - INTRODUCTION
This document itself and all contents within this document will define expected conduct of members of the Habbo Intelligence Agency (herein referred to as HIA) whenever visiting Allied counterparts on official business. All policies pertaining to this document are in effect as of the XX of June, 2018. This document has been drafted, finalized, and approved by the Leader of Diplomatic, the Director of External Relations, as well as Foundation.
SECTION II - REQUIREMENTS OF AN HIA DIPLOMAT
Only HIA personnel ranked Ambassador and above (herein referred to as Diplomats) are allowed to perform Diplomatic activities outside of HIA in fulfilment of their professional requirements. As a high-ranking member of HIA, Diplomats are required to obtain the appropriate Alliance badge that will grant them access into the Allied organisation’s place of operation (herein referred to as Allied HQ).
Diplomats are expected to dress professionally (business casual) within an Allied HQ. The only exception to this requirement is if the Allied counterpart has set dress code guidelines for HIA members to follow; the Ally’s dress code takes precedence over HIA’s recommended dress code.
SECTION III - EXPECTED CONDUCT OF AN HIA DIPLOMAT
Diplomats are expected to present themselves professionally when they are visiting an Allied HQ, as well as show respect to all Habbos present in the Allied HQ. Diplomats must respect and adhere to their respective regulations when visiting an Allied HQ.
In addition, a Diplomat must not interfere with the daily operations of the Allied HQ when conducting his/her HIA work. Here are some examples of the expected conduct of a Diplomat:
• Only approach an Allied staff member who is filling a station when they have given consent to do so OR if they approached first.
• Whispering is a good way to communicate with staff members privately without interfering with daily operations.
• Do NOT harass an Allied staff member. If they do not wish to speak, leave them alone.
• Keep clear of the Allied HQ’s hallways/doorways. Try to remain seated unless standing is required (e.g. when Attention on Deck is called in military HQs).
• NO form of gifts should be distributed or accepted for the purposes of conducting any professional work. For example, paying Allied staff members in order to interview them is NOT ALLOWED; interaction with Allied staff members should be voluntary and not coerced or bribed.
If HIA receives a complaint from an Allied counterpart because of a Diplomat’s behaviour, they are to bear full responsibility for their actions. Diplomats who, because of inappropriate behaviour, damage the reputation of HIA and its relationship with its Allies will be subject to disciplinary action.
